The new week starts again with numerous exciting concerts and masterclasses around the world.
Concerts and events
Kateryna Titova opens the concert week with a joint piano duo concert with Edgar Wiersocki in the Laeiszhalle Hamburg. On the 26th and 28th of April the pianist Marianna Shirinyan will be guest at the Kammermusikfestival am Meer with Franziska Hölscher & Friends in Heiligendamm. Jan Schultsz gives a recital on Sunday at the Festival de Pâques in Aix-en-Provence. Together with Ian Bostridge he will perform Schubert's "Die schöne Müllerin".
The violinist Sophia Jaffé will be performing a Sonata evening with Björn Lehmann and works by Bloch, Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Feldmann at Villa Seligmann Hannover on Thursday. Nils Mönkemeyer plays two concerts with the Toppan Hall Ensemble in Tokyo on April 26 and 27. The string quartet of the Staatskapelle Berlin with Yulia Deyneka invites you to two concerts in the Boulez Hall. They will perform works by Mozart, Schoenberg, Brahms and Webern. László Fenyő will be at the Seoul Spring Festival this week. Cellist Judith Ermert will give a recital in Granada with Daan Vandewalle on piano and works by Schumann, Strauss and Hindemith on Tuesday. On Sunday you can meet her at the Open House Day of the School of Arts Gent. Music by Lutoslawski, Mozart, Tschaikowski and Brahms can be heard on Thursday in the Hamburg Laeiszhalle at a concert of the Hamburger Camerata with Jens Peter Maintz.
At the concert series "Klassik in Spandau" in the Spandauer Zitadelle, the percussion duo Double Beats will be guest on Saturday. The Kuss Quartet will give a concert in Ahrensburg this Sunday with string quartets by Beethoven.
Felix Krieger will conduct the premiere of Mozart's "La Clemenza di Tito" at the Theatro Sao Pedro in Sao Paulo on April 26. On the 28th of April you will once more have the chance to experience the opera on stage. In Winnipeg, Canada, Daniel Raiskin will conduct two concerts of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra with pianist Gabriela Montero on Friday and Saturday. The program includes music by Rimsky-Korsakov, Tchaikovsky and Mussorgsky.
Master classes and competitions
As part of her trip to Granada, Judith Ermert will be giving a masterclass at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música "Victoria Eugenia" on Monday. On Wednesday Joanna Sachryn will give a masterclass for chamber music with the Cologne Piano Trio at Haus Marteau in Lichtenberg. Johanna Dömötör offers a masterclass flute with Dávid Simon at the Budapest Music Center on April 27.
In addition, several registration deadlines for national and international music competitions are going to end this week. Violinists and violists can apply for the Szymon Goldberg Award Meißen until April 25. The application deadline for the International Competition Musica Antiqua in the Piano category is this week’s Friday.
