Concerts and events
The conductor Reinhard Goebel starts the week with two concerts in Augsburg. On June 11 and 12 he will perform works by Romberg, Clement and Beethoven with the Augsburg Philharmonic and Lena Neudauer (violin). Steven Sloane brings Cilea's opera "Adriana Lecouvreur" to the stage at the Frankfurt Opera House on the 15th of June. On the same day, Daniel Raiskin gives a concert with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife in the Spanish city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The program includes Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 in C minor, op. 67, and Tschaikowsky's Symphony No. 4. Clemens Schuldt will be appearing at the München Faust Festival on June 16. There he conducts the world premiere of the new work of Manuela Kerer. The Philharmonic State Orchestra Mainz, conducted by Hermann Bäumer, will be performing on Sunday, June 17, at the Opernnacht am Dom on the Mainz marketplace.
The Ensemble Passo Avanti will be guesting this week at the Wasserburger Rathauskonzerten, where on June 16, they will play works and arrangements by and after J.S. Bach, Mozart, Verdi, Hagke and others. The renowned percussion duo DoubleBeats will be performing on the same day at the Melzower Summer Concerts. The clarinetist Thorsten Johanns will play at several concerts as part of the Chiemgau Music Spring from June 11 on. Johanna Dömötör gives a concert in Lucerne on Sunday with the Festival Strings Lucerne conducted by Rudolf Buchbinder. They will perform music by Beethoven and Hodel.
Violinist Korbinian Altenberger will give three concerts with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra under the conduction of Antonio Pappano in Munich from the 14th to the 16th August. Works by Bernstein and Rachmaninov will be played. On June 14, Sophia Jaffé plays with the Orchester l'AMA musique under Roberto Rega Bruch’s Violin Concerto at the Victoria Hall in Geneva. Iason Keramidis, Carlota Amado (piano) and Sissy Schmidhuber (cello) are going to perform Smetana's Piano Trio in G minor op. 15 at the "Kultur im Schlosspark" Open Air Festival in Ismaning on the 16th of June. Diana Tishchenko interprets music by Tchaikovsky, Stravinsky and Prokofiev at the "Russian Night" in the piano salon Christophori Berlin on June 17. The violist Yulia Deyneka will also be performing in Berlin: the string quartet of the Staatskapelle Berlin will interpret the fourth part of the Schubert cycle in the Boulez Saal. The concert will take place on June 13. This week, Nils Mönkemeyer will perform at the Mozart Festival in Würzburg, where he will perform with the Kammerorchester Basel under the conduction of Heinz Holliger on the 16th of June. At the Festival SPANNUNGEN in the innogy power plant Heimbach, Barbara Buntrock will be guesting on Sunday. Here, Mendelssohn Bartholdy's String Quintet op. 87 is listed on the program. On the cello, Jens Peter Maintz gives a chamber music concert on June 13 at the Elbphilharmonie with works by Shostakovich. Oren Shevlin starts the week with a concert in Bonn under the motto "Con Basso", where he interprets works by Onslow, Bottesini and Schubert. Claudio Bohórquez will perform two concerts this week together with Péter Nagy: On June 14, the cellist and the pianist will be guests in Baden-Baden, where works by Schumann, Brahms and Bartók will be on the program. With a similar program they give a recital in Gauting on saturday. "Everything has its time" is the motto of the concert for the 100th birthday of Bernd Alois Zimmermann, which will take place on June 16 in Frechen. For this occasion, Esther Saladin interprets works by Zimmermann.
Another composer's birthday will be celebrated this week in Bergen / Troldhaugen in a special way: The 30-hour event "Grieg Minute by Minute" will be broadcasted live in the NRK. Pianist Marianna Shirinyan will be seen and heard here on June 15. On the same day, Peter Donohoe gives a recital at Monkton School in Bath, UK, with works by Scriabin, Ravel, Schumann and Schubert. Also on June 15, Elena Gurevich invites you to the musical-literary soiree "Lebenswerte" at the Hotel Imperial Wien. On the 17th of June, Nicolai Gerassimez finishes the week with a concert with violinist Christina Brabetz at the Hessenbrückenmühle in Laubach, where the duo will interpret music by Bloch, Ravel, Gershwin, Schubert, Piazzolla and others.
Soprano Ilia Papandreou will premiere on June 15 as Dorota in the Weiberger opera „Schwanda der Dudelsackpfeifer“ at the Music Theater in the Revier Gelsenkirchen. Hansung Yoo will perform again on June 17 as Kurwenal in the staging of Wagner's "Tristan and Isolde" at the Staatstheater Kassel.
On the 13th of June the best actor in the season 2017/18 will be honored with the NRW Förderpreis in the Rheinisches Landestheater Neuss. The laudatio will be given by Daniel Finkernagel.
By the middle of the month, some application deadlines for music competitions are coming to an end. The online registration for the Fritz Kreisler Violin Competition is open until June 15. Also on June 15, the application phases of the CIMA International Music Competition and the Berlin International Music Competition end. Composers can apply for the SCORE Composition Competition for Film Music and the Pfalzpreis for Music until friday. For the International Singing Competition "Toti dal Monte" application is possible until June 16.
