Concerts and events
This week, the Premiertone calendar once more is packed with exciting concerts, festivals and events. Violinist Korbinian Altenberger continues his recital series in Los Angeles until June 7. Together with Jiayi Shi on the piano he interprets Beethoven's ten sonatas for piano and violin. On June 10, the duo will also perform in Schloss Seefeld. Claudio Bohórquez and Barbara Buntrock will give a gala concert on June 10 at the Liepe & Co festival in Hanover. Together with Niklas and Nils Liepe as well as Moritz Ter Nedden they are going to perform Shostakovich's Piano Quintet. On the same day, Oren Shevlin gives a concert under the motto "Con basso" in Cologne. The program includes works by Onslow, Bottesini and Schubert.
The pianist Nicolai Gerassimez gives two concerts this week with his brothers Alexej and Wassily Gerassimez. On the 8th of June, the trio will be performing in the castle of Bruchsal, on the following day a concert will take place in the cultural center Hufeisen in Germersheim. Nicholas Rimmer will perform on June 7 as part of the Belli-Fischer-Rimmer trio in Mönchengladbach.
The percussion duo Double Beats will perform directly at the beginning of the week on June 4 at the Musikforum Gendarmenmarkt in the Konzerthaus Berlin. Jasmin-Isabel Kühne travels with her harp ensemble to Bielsko-Biala on the 9th of June to give a festive concert on the occasion of the 20-year city partnership between Wolfsburg and the Polish city. Flutist Michael Hasel together with the Berliner Philharmoniker conducted by Sir Simon Rattle will be guesting in Amsterdam this week. The orchestra interprets works by Abrahamsen and Bruckner.
Conductor Daniel Raiskin conducts a concert of the Slovenska Filharmonica with soloist Milan Pal'a (violin) in Bratislava on the 7th of June. Weber's overture to "Euryanthe", Mendelssohn Bartholdy's Violin Concerto in E minor, op. 64 and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6 in B minor, op. 74 "Pathétique" will be performed. From the 8th to the 10th of June, Clemens Schuldt is on tour with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. In Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen he is going to conduct works by Debussy, Mozart, Dvorák and Beethoven. Steven Sloane in turn conducts Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 15 KV 450 at the Spoleto Festival on June 9. On the same day, opera singer Hansung Yoo will once again perform as Kurwenal in the staging of Wagner's "Tristan & Isolde" at the Staatstheater Kassel.
This week is the last chance to apply for the composition contest at the Busan Maru International Music Festival. The application period ends on the 7th of June.
