Concerts and events with the premiertone artists

We are very proud and happy to welcome another new artist to premiertone and our preview: Tomoko Akasaka. She gives a concert with her Amaryllis Quartet in Titisee-Neustadt on October 27th and a masterclass in Schmochtitz on October 28th.

There is also something to celebrate in Bruges: On October 28th, the Gala Concert for the 5th anniversary of the International Flute Seminar Bruges takes place at the Ryelandtzaal - Aldo Baerten and other musicians will be playing the Brandenburg Concerto No. 4. Jens Peter Maintz is going to interpret Shostakovich's Cello Sonata in D minor at the Cello Akademie Rutesheim on October 29th, and Nils Mönkemeyer plays the Viola Concerto by William Walton in Krefeld on October 24th and in Mönchengladbach on October 25th.

Hardy Rittner performs works by Frédéric Chopin in Rüsselsheim on October 24th. Paul Rivinius takes part in an ensemble concert of the Deutsche Radiophilharmonie in Saarbrücken on October 25th; there are works by Haydn, Mozart, Françaix and Dvořák on the program. Elena Gurevich is getting involved in global climate protection: In her concert in Munich on October 27th, there will also be a lecture by Prof. Hans Peter Schmid on this subject.

On October 23rd and 24th, Daniel Finkernagel presents "WDR 3 Mosaik" in the morning. He also takes part in the workshops for the education project "film @ the phil" of the Philharmonie du Luxembourg on October 27th and 28th. Passo Avanti has been invited to SWR 2 ClassicClash in Mainz on October 26th (you can watch the video of their visit at KlickKlack last week here). Nicholas Rimmer is going to accompany Magdalena Hinz in a recital in Freiburg on October 23th and also performs in a concert devoted to Beethoven at the Shanghai International Arts Festival on October 29th: Several violinists are going to play all of Beethoven's violin sonatas in honour of the 190th anniversary of his death.

Instead of playing the flute, Michael Hasel is going to conduct a concert this week: He leads the Filarmonica Banatul in Timișoara on October 27th. Also in Eastern Europe, Sunhae Im sings in Bach's Mass in B minor in Budapest on October 25th, and Thorsten Johanns appears at the SoNoRo festival in Bucharest on October 27th.

The Novus String Quartet performs with Andrei Ioniţă in Florence on October 29th. Marianna Shirinyan interprets Grieg's Piano Concerto in A minor in Odense on October 26th and 27th. In Great Britain, Peter Donohoe continues his concert tour with the St Peterburg Symphony Orchestra (Guildford: 24/10, Perth: 26/10, Carlisle: 27/10, Leeds: 28/10, Edinburgh: 29/10), and Philip Higham performs with his Joachim String Trio in several cities (Inverness: 26/10, Moffat: 27/10, Linlithgow: 28/10, Haddington: 29/10) - there are works by Mozart, Sibelius and Schubert on their program.

Finally, Daniel Raiskin conducts the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra in Winnipeg on October 27th and 28th.


Until November 15th, cellists can apply for the renowned Lutosławski Competition which will take place in January and February 2018. Another chance for young cellists: Until November 20th, you can apply for the next TONALi competition which is also advertised for cello.
